Melody and counterpoint, accompanied by a peaceful harmony, play a kind of question and answer game in this short composition. The piece is written in a rather ABA form, with the perusiion complementing the whole very effectively.

De muzikale spanning wordt geleidelijk verhoogd waarna in het Grandioso een nieuw krachtig thema wordt geïntroduceerd. De altijd aanwezige twee thema's worden daarna verder ontwikkeld om uiteindelijk na een climax het werk af te sluiten.

Homage€ 121,00In the most literal sense: a piece for an occasion. The actual occasion was Jan de Haan’s twentieth anniversary as a conductor of the top Dutch brass band, “Soli Deo Gloria” (Leeuwarden). To mark the occasion, the band commissioned the Belgian comopser Jan Van der Roost to create a surprise piece: without knowledge of the person being celebrated, a suitable source of inspiration was sought for.

Inspiration€ 179,99Het werk begint met een in de frygische toonaard gecomponeerd thema A, dat na een climax overgaat in een snel gedeelte. Dit thema B valt op door de grote intervalsprongen. Hierna volgt een doorwerking waarin de twee hoofdthema's zowel afzonderlijk als gelijktijdig terugkeren. Het werk komt tot rust in een langzaam middengedeelte dat gebaseerd is op het B-thema. Het deel sluit af met een tutti gespeeld B-thema dat wreed wordt geïnterrumpeerd door fragmenten van het A-thema, terwijl het B-thema (uit het langzame middendeel) in zijn geheel nog een keer terugkeert. Voordat het werk in een stralend fortissimo afsluit, ontstaat een bijzonder effect doordat de trompetsolist het A-thema speelt van achter uit de zaal.
