The Spartan Warriors€ 124,78The Sparta army is well-known in the time of the ancient Greek that the warriors would never lay down their weapons for any reason. The theme from the beginning of the piece strongly declares that the warriors are always willing to fight for their homeland. The slow movement reflects the feeling of the warriors when they are far away from their loved one due to their duty. The composers intently uses the harmony that gives a hopeful feeling but also painful at the same time. The audience can hear the bell during the piece. It is the symbol of the clock towers which located in every cities. Everytime that the warriors leaves a city, the sound of the bell becomes softer and softer until it disappears. Only at the end of the piece that the bell rings only one last time after the majestical theme. It's the bell of victory!

Nightglow€ 77,41The young British composer Ben Hollings found his inspiration for 'Nightglow' during a night out in the open air. The work is inspired by a nocturnal celestial scene in which the scattered stars, comets, galaxies and other astronomical elements create a warm 'nocturnal glow' in the darkness of space. A beautiful slow work for any band!
The work was commissioned by K.F. De Berthoutzonen as part the collaboration 'Fanfarissimo' between 9 fanfare bands to expand the original repertoire.

San Marco€ 79,00Maak kennis met de dubbelkorigheid in San Marco. Een muzikale structuur waarbij twee koren/orkesten tezamen of afwisselend naar elkaar toe musiceren. Deze techniek met cori spezzati zou voor het eerst zijn toegepast in de 16e eeuw door de componisten Adriaan Willaert en Giovanni Gabrieli in de San Marcobasiliek (stadsdeel San Marco) te Venetië.
Feike van Tuinen schreef deze ‘speelmuziek’ met name voor de lagere divisieorkesten. Het scherp koperkwartet (echokoor)neemt bijvoorkeur plaats op een galerij. Hierdoor ontstaat er een mooi echo effect. Qua thematiek zijn de echo’s van verschillende Psalmmelodieën hoorbaar.

Ignition€ 114,38De muziek begint met een ritmisch en opzwepend motief dat de anticipatie van het opstijgen weerspiegelt. Cornetten en trombones nemen het voortouw terwijl de kracht van de raketmotoren tot leven komt.
Na de ontsteking verandert de muziek in een snelle opwindende melodie, die de raket omhoog de ruimte in volgt. De repetitieve motieven doorheen heel het orkest geven de duizelingwekkende snelheid weer waarmee de raket de atmosfeer benadert.
Het trage deel geeft een prachtig beeld van onze planeet vanuit het heelal. De bugel presenteert het hoofdthema een eerste keer vooraleer deze door heel het orkest naar een apotheose geleid zal worden. De cornetten en trombones kondigen dan met een herneming van het beginthema de reis naar huis aan.
Deze begint aan een even duizelingwekkende snelheid, de spanning van de reis wordt steeds meer opgedreven tot deze resulteert in een triomfantelijke finale met een spectaculair slot die de thuiskomst van de ruimtereizigers weerspiegelt.
"Ignition" is een opwindend openingswerk die de kracht van menselijke exploratie viert. Laat deze muzikale reis uw verbeelding prikkelen.
