Its character and sounds are comparable to the Hungarian and Slavonic dances by Brahms and Dvorak and to the Hungarian Rhapsodies by Liszt. All the melodies, however, are newly composed, not adapted from existing dances.

Spartacus€ 195,00Spartacus is a "Symphonic Tone Poem" with 3 joints. Each section has its own melodical materials, however: in the final movement the main theme from the second section returns in a 'grandioso'-tutti. The last bar but one recaptures the 'oriental' atmosphere of the very beginning.

From Ancient Times€ 342,00From Ancient Times is een mijlpaal in het oeuvre van Jan Van der Roost. Doorgaans vinden zijn werken hun oorsprong veelal in de Vlaamse vocaalpolyfonie uit de renaissancetijd. Maar met gregoriaans gezang en middeleeuwse dansen grijpt hij nu terug naar nog eerdere tijden. De basis voor dit grootse werk mag dan in ‘ancient times’ liggen, de toonspraak is dat zeer zeker niet..!
