'The Flying L-1' is opgedragen aan Leen Vandenhende, voormalig solo baritone van Brassband Willebroek. De titel van het werk is gekozen naar Leen's veelgebruikte afkorting van haar naam. De 'Flying' verwijst naar het virtuoze tweede deel, waar de volledige tessituur van het instrument wordt benut, gebaseerd op een motief uit het lyrische eerste deel.

Arsenal was composed for the 50th anniversary of the ‘Harmonie van het Spoorwegarsenaal’[railroad arsenal], based in Mechelen (Belgium). Rather a stately concert march, it has beautiful themes and a broad melody in the trio. It was premiered in the Mechelen Cultural Center on the 11th of May 1996 during the solemn ceremony, opening the anniversary year and conducted by the composer.

A Letter Home was composed for Kirsty Abbotts and the Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band for their opening set at the 2014 Brass in Concert Championships, held at the Sage Centre in Gateshead.
The music isn't the setting of the text, but is inspired by a select of the words of much cherished World War I poet, Siegfried Sassoon's poem of the same name.
