Dark Abyss werd geschreven in opdracht van Eikanger-Bjørsvik Musikklag voor hun Siddis Brass en Brass in Concert programma, "Tales of the North Sea" in 2017. Het stuk beschrijft de donkere en onbekende delen van de Noordzee. Het thematisch materiaal is donker en vol met effecten die proberen voor te stellen wat er zich op de bodem van de oceaan verschuilt.

Bliss: Impressions of a Village is het spectaculaire werk van Jacob de Haan. Het bevat drie impressies van een dorp in de provincie Brabant. Het eerste deel is in een klassieke stijl geschreven, refererend aan de geschiedenis van het dorp. Het gehele orkest zwelt aan in het tweede deel, zoals ook de kleine rivier die het oude kasteel nadert. Het derde deel bevat veel interessante ritmes die verwijzen naar alledaagse drukte in het levendige dorp.
