"EN" is a Japanese word for feast.
Sachi Uchida: "My father was critically ill when I decided to write this piece. Some sad melodys came up on my mind. But because I wished him well, I wrote this cheerful tune and added the word "paradoxically". -

Het werk kent een plechtige inleiding met diverse soli in het middengedeelte. Het mars-achtige thema mondt uit in een majestueus slot.

The composer writes:
I borrowed the title for this music from J.S.Bach. Any similarity with Bach is very loose and superficial however. I am really only using the term to describe a suite, invented by me which happens to be in three movements. -

Held on March 4 of that year, the ball took place during the holiday called Fasching in German-speaking countries and known as Carnival or Mardi Gras in other countries.
