The Devil in I€ 90,12Slipknot is een Amerikaanse heavy metal band, opgericht in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1995 door percussionist Shawn Crahan, drummer Joey Jordison en bassist Paul Gray. Slipknot staat bekend om zijn aandachttrekkende imago, agressieve muziekstijl, en energieke en chaotische live shows. De band werd snel beroemd na de release van hun gelijknamige debuutalbum in 1999. "The Devil in I" is afkomstig van hun vijfde album, The Gray Chapter. Het is de tweede single van het album en de eerste die wordt uitgebracht op de radio en muziekzenders, want de vorige single "The Negative One" werd alleen digitaal uitgebracht.
The Devil in I is gearrangeerd voor de Tredegar Town Band voor Brass in Concert 2021. Het werk behoudt de "heavy metal" sound terwijl het polytonale botsingen integreert om het spectrum van de brassband te verkennen.

The work is based on the Dies Irae motif, which has often been used throughout music history to represent death. Different emotions associated with death are expressed in various forms and inversions of the theme.

Sparkle€ 89,54Lennert Van Laenen beschrijft in 'Sparkle' het schitteren van een vallende ster die tijdens een donkere nacht naar beneden dwaalt. Het werk start met een auditieve representatie van het glitteren, wat doorheen het stuk als leidraad wordt gebruikt. Het rustige middendeel staat symbool voor de schoonheid van de sterrenhemel, waarna een nieuw tempo het slot aankondigt.
Sparkle werd in het voorjaar van 2023 verkozen tot 'runner up' van de internationale compositiewedstrijd georganiseerd door 'The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain'.
