The Flying L-1€ 117,13'The Flying L-1' is opgedragen aan Leen Vandenhende, voormalig solo baritone van Brassband Willebroek. De titel van het werk is gekozen naar Leen's veelgebruikte afkorting van haar naam. De 'Flying' verwijst naar het virtuoze tweede deel, waar de volledige tessituur van het instrument wordt benut, gebaseerd op een motief uit het lyrische eerste deel.

Dit virtuoze werk is onderverdeeld in 4 "kleuren": "yellow", "Red", "Blue" en "Green". Eke kleur typeert een muzikale beweging met specifieke kenmerken. Een meesterwerk van Bert Appermont en een verrijking van het trombonerepertoire.
