Egmont op. 84 werd gecomponeerd in 1810 en maakt deel uit van muziek voor de gelijknamige tragedie van Goethe. Het is zeker een van de grootste ouvertures van Beethoven. Beethoven was een groot bewonderaar van Goethe en was daarom zeer vereerd over het verzoek van Goethe. Ton van Grevenbroek instrumenteerde op ons verzoek deze prachtig ouverture voor harmonie. -
