    Het arrangement is gebaseerd op het thema van het 2de deel uit Mozart`s klarinetconcerto. Oorspronkelijk een langzame (Adagio)-melodie in ¾ maat, hier heeft het een helder `pop` ritme gekregen, compleet met drums.

    Gorkhi-Terelj is one of Mongolia’s national parks, located 55km north-east of Ulaanbaatar. Unlike the nearby steppes, it has mountains and trees, including large stands of tamarack, which turn golden in autumn. The park has a magnificent alpine landscape, many rock formations for rock climbers, and includes a famous formation called Turtle Rock (Melkhii Khad) because of the shape it resembles. Well known as a tourist destination, the gigantic rock was formed and carved into the shape

    of a turtle only by wind and rainwater, and is located just off the main road into the park. Legend says King Galdanboshigt hid all his treasures there during the Manchu war in 1600. Since then it’s been worshipped by the locals as a treasure rock that brings good fortune to those who visit.

    Panic Button werd geschreven in opdracht van Bert Van Thienen speciaal voor het Wereld Muziek Concours 2022. De componist kreeg op muzikaal gebied volledige vrijheid, twee voorwaarden krijg hij echter wel mee. Ten eerste moest het een atypisch werk zijn, een compositie die het harmonieorkest in een ander daglicht plaatst dan het traditionele repertoire en geschikt zijn voor zowel concert- als wedstrijdpodia. Ten tweede moest het de muzikanten in de gelegenheid stellen om even volledig los te gaan. Enerzijds om eventuele stress af te schudden en anderzijds om hun energie te geven voor de rest van het programma. Geniet ervan!
