Turtle Rock€ 90,20Gorkhi-Terelj is one of Mongolia’s national parks, located 55km north-east of Ulaanbaatar. Unlike the nearby steppes, it has mountains and trees, including large stands of tamarack, which turn golden in autumn. The park has a magnificent alpine landscape, many rock formations for rock climbers, and includes a famous formation called Turtle Rock (Melkhii Khad) because of the shape it resembles. Well known as a tourist destination, the gigantic rock was formed and carved into the shape
of a turtle only by wind and rainwater, and is located just off the main road into the park. Legend says King Galdanboshigt hid all his treasures there during the Manchu war in 1600. Since then it’s been worshipped by the locals as a treasure rock that brings good fortune to those who visit.

Het werk werd geschreven in 1991 voor Troms? Brass. Troms? is een van de noordelijkste steden van Noorwegen, net boven de poolcirkel. Topografisch de stad komt waarschijnlijk over als ijskoud, maar Troms?is beroemd om zijn 'warme' nachtleven.
De componist: In Arctic Funk krijg je misschien het gevoel van een groot feest dat plaatsvindt tussen ijs rotsen en besneeuwde bergen.

Inspiration€ 179,99Het werk begint met een in de frygische toonaard gecomponeerd thema A, dat na een climax overgaat in een snel gedeelte. Dit thema B valt op door de grote intervalsprongen. Hierna volgt een doorwerking waarin de twee hoofdthema's zowel afzonderlijk als gelijktijdig terugkeren. Het werk komt tot rust in een langzaam middengedeelte dat gebaseerd is op het B-thema. Het deel sluit af met een tutti gespeeld B-thema dat wreed wordt geïnterrumpeerd door fragmenten van het A-thema, terwijl het B-thema (uit het langzame middendeel) in zijn geheel nog een keer terugkeert. Voordat het werk in een stralend fortissimo afsluit, ontstaat een bijzonder effect doordat de trompetsolist het A-thema speelt van achter uit de zaal.

Hymnus Antverpiae€ 81,00This hymn was commissioned by “Antwerpen 93”. And this city, on the banks of the river Schelde has been nominated “Cultural Capital of Europe” for 1993. The work-group “animatie” took the initiative and commissioned a hymn, which -as the finale to a grand open-air event on 27th March- was premièred by hundreds of musicians from all over Europe.

German Love Song€ 94,99Dreaming of love. This is the theme of the folksong on which the composition was based. Its characteristic melody inspired Jacob de Haan to this instrumental romance with a transparent structure consisting of an introduction, the folk-melody, a development of the theme, the folk-melody accompanied by ornamental triplets followed by the final bars.
