A Tallis Fanfare is a festive and virtuoso composition by Rodney Newton, based on the well-known canon of the 16th century composer Thomas Tallis. Newton's work functions excellently as the ultimate concert opener, and is characterized by its surprising modulations and beautiful color palette.

The hymn in the middle section is preceded by a quick festive passage that returns at the end. A Tallis Fanfare contains many contrasts and is a rewarding occasional work at various events. After a festive introduction by the entire orchestra, Tallis's leading theme is performed by the trombone section. The ending is a reflection of the beginning; grand and exalted.
