    A Tallis Fanfare (fa)
    €84.99

A Tallis Fanfare is a festive and virtuoso composition by Rodney Newton, based on the well-known canon of the 16th century composer Thomas Tallis. Newton's work functions excellently as the ultimate concert opener, and is characterized by its surprising modulations and beautiful color palette. The skillful fanfare arrangement is by Marten van der Wal. There is plenty of room for the saxophone section.

The hymn in the middle section is preceded by a quick festive passage that returns at the end. A Tallis Fanfare contains many contrasts and is a rewarding occasional work at various events. After a festive introduction by the entire orchestra, Tallis's leading theme is performed by the trombone section, after which the saxophone group takes over the musical direction of this hymn. The ending is a reflection of the beginning; grand and exalted.

The composition 'Bright Future' was written as a prize for Fanfare 'Kunst Na Arbeid' Hierden (conducted by Arno Groeneveld) for their victory in the 4th division at the Open Dutch Fanfare Championships (ONFK) in 2023.The commissioner's wish was to create a contrasting work, combining march-like gestures with chorale-like sounds within a contemporary idiom. The contrasting theme serves as a metaphor for innovative paths the band has taken in recent times in order to achieve a positive and clear future perspective. The title (provided by the band) originated from this idea. In addition, the work contains a proud and maestoso character, to refer to the band's victory at the Open Dutch Fanfare Championships 2023.
