Last Call was commissioned by and written for Brass Band Oberösterreich (Austria) as a special concert finale. Austrian composer Otto M. Schwarz was asked to write an encore piece with which the band could really show off. Featuring all the sections of the band in turn, your audience will surely be dazzled by their skills!

The work was written for the World Music Competition in Kerkrade as a compulsory work for the 1st division fanfare in the 1989 edition, and for a long time was only available as an original fanfare work. Since then it has remained a very appealing composition for the Brass and wind music audience, not only because of the exciting progression of the piece, but also because of its special compositional approach.

As is often the case with popular works, a version for concert band was also regularly hinted at in this work. It is quite common knowledge that Rob Goorhuis does not like to write in a HAFABRA mode. His works generally only exist in one setting, the original, for the orchestral form for which it was conceived. However, Rob Goorhuis has devoted himself to a completely new version, which does justice to the color palette of the concert band. The flexibility of the woodwinds gives an extra dimension to the new work thus created.
